My first experience of Moto was at the age of 18 having completed my education to a high level but wanting a career instead of heading off to university. I applied for a shift manager position in the Burger King department at the Oxford services and have never looked back.
The company offered real opportunities and exciting challenges which is what attracted me to Moto and they have never failed to deliver.
After being with the company for only six months I was offered the opportunity to enter an assessment day for the graduate scheme. I was successful on the day and offered an Assistant Manager position again in Burger King but this time at Chieveley Services near Newbury.
This new role was a great opportunity for me to learn the trade under an experienced Department Manager. I was tasked to focus on the people aspects of the business and was responsible for recruitment and retention, training, and supervising the unit on a day-to-day basis. With the experience gained through training others I was able to not only broaden my own operational knowledge but help assist move the unit forward operationally. Towards the end of my 12 months at Chieveley, with the confidence gained from my experience, I became move involved with the financial side of things looking at sales forecasting, wage controls and stock management and was able to take my next step with a good level of understanding of the business.
I have now worked at five different sites from Brighton to the Head Office site at Toddington, Luton, working with seven different brands, meeting hundreds of amazing people through out the business and gaining some fantastic managerial experience. My last position was as Deputy General Manager at the third busiest site in Moto with responsibilities of delivering 4 million bottom line profit, working with over 200 employee’s and developing a management team of 14 personnel. In June 2008 I was appointed into my first site as General Manager and still only 25........... so if it’s opportunity that you are looking then look no further than Moto.
Moto has certainly been a challenge that has completely changed my life but to coin a phrase ‘you get out what you put in’. I have put a lot into Moto and still have goals that I want to achieve.
